Arzenia Jeanetta Williams, known to most as Zena or Miss Z, was born on November 23, 1948 in Detroit Michigan to the late Jimmie Fowler and Mary Williams. She was the second eldest of her mother’s children, including Claudiaette Maddox and Virgil Williams who preceded her in death.
She was an active and faithful member of St. Paul AME Church where she served as a pulpit aide and member of the hospitality ministry.
She earned a GED from the Kettering Adult Education Center and held positions with local and national corporations and non-profit organizations, including St. Mary’s Nursing Home, Pitney Bowes, YMCA of Metropolitan Detroit and Ravendale Community Inc. After retiring, she remained actively involved in the community volunteering for organizations like the Senior Companion Program.
She lived fully and enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren, friends and neighbors. She was a proud and dedicated floor representative at the Gratiot Woods Co-Op Apartments where she resided.
Zena leaves to cherish her memory: two children, Leonard Sr. and Rasheda Williams; a sister, Theresa Wallace (Oscar); a brother, Darryl Webb (Glenda); four grandchildren: Aquanda, Quiona, Lynette and Leonard Jr. Williams; two great-grandchildren: Koi Jr. and Kai Trice; three nieces: Dion Pruitt (Briant), Yolanda Hall-Miller (Brian) and Lontina Henry; three nephews: Rodney Williams (Willa), Virgil Williams Jr. and Travis Wallace; and a host of other close relatives and friends who loved and admired her.
