Tony Young,Sr

Tony Douglas Young Sr. was born in Detroit, Michigan on January 9, 1949, the second of nine children born to Robert Douglas Taylor Young and Evelyn Avis Young. He received his secular education in the Detroit Public School System, graduating from Eastern High School in June 1967. He served in the U.S. Army as a medic during the Vietnam War and received an honorable discharge after 3 years of valiant service.

Tony was a lifetime resident of the City of Detroit and was employed by the Chrysler Corporation for 37 Years until his retirement. He was a talented artist, loved writing poetry and all genres of music. There wasn’t a classic movie he didn’t know or a musician he couldn’t name. The depths of his talents knew no bounds and live on through his children and grandchildren.

Tony was preceded in death by both parents, Robert and Evelyn Young; two sisters: Virginia Haralson, Shelly Allen; and a brother: Guy Young.

Keeping his memory alive forever in their hearts are his children: Dawn Johnson, Kenyata Creecy and Son-in-law Mario Creecy, Tony Young Jr. and daughter-in-law Adrianne Young, and Demetrius Logan; and grandchildren: Tishjauna Johnson, Captain Jasmine Johnson (US Air Force), Chelsea Johnson, Walter (Darius) Rice and wife Tandra, Ashley Young, Blake Rice, Mario Creecy Jr and wife Freda Creecy; Marcus Johnson and wife Nuwara, Marcia Burgee and Andre Gully; four great-grandchildren: Jayden Creecy, Zariah Rice, Phoenix Creecy, and Onyx Rice;  five sisters: Debra Young, Carmen Hill, Judith Young, Mellanee Young, and Raina Young; One Uncle: Willie Hendricks; eight aunts: Sharon Hendricks, Thelma Young, Ophelia White, Cathy Young, Donna Young, Josephine Young, Marla Young, Rebecca Young; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
