Norma Eliana Guzman Vda. de Vargas, 94, of Detroit, Michigan, died January 5, 2021 at St. John Hospital with family at her bedside.
She was born on October 28, 1926 in Arica, Chile. She later moved Tacna, then Lima, Peru. She immigrated to the United States in 1962 with her husband, the late Victor Vargas and children Luis Rivera (deceased) and Eliana Vargas-Harlan. Later, she gave birth to Teresa Vargas-Elliott.
Norma is survived by daughters Eliana Vargas-Harlan (Mike Harlan) and Teresa Vargas-Elliott (Randy Hawkins), daughter-in-law Zeniada Arraiz-Rivera, niece Martha Black (Orlando) and dear friend Elida Nestares.
Her grandchildren: Victor Rivera, Alexandra Rivera-Severn (Dennis Severn), Stefani Vargas Harlan Krause (Erica Krause), Victoria Elliott.
Great Grand Children: Alexandra’s children – Antonio, Isabella and Odin
Victor’s children – Luis and Alexondra
She is also survived by her sister Adriana Guzman Vda. de Passalacqua, Lima, Peru and many beloved nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews in Peru, Chile and Canada.
Private burial at White Chapel Cemetery.
Celebration of Life memorial to be announced at later date.
