Anthony Patrick Gregory was born in Detroit Michigan on September 15, 1962, to Shirley J. Gregory and the late Jessie Patrick. Manie as he was so fondly called, received his education from the Detroit Public School System. As a child he was happy and loved to have fun with the family. He was a very loving, giving, and a quiet person who always looked out for his family. Anthony accepted Christ as his Savior at an early age at Greater Macedonia Baptist Church under the pastorate of Rev. David A. Johnson Sr.
After High School, Manie joined the United States Army, serving with the HHC, 1st. Battalion, 225th Infantry, were he distinguished himself. He received high honors, achieving the rank of Specialist 4th Class. He received the Army Service Ribbon, Marksman Badge, Expert Badge for Hand Grenade, and the Army Achievement Medal. His principal areas of service were Equipment Records and Parts Specialist. Anthony Patrick Gregory was discharged from the United States Army on December 05,1986, with an Honorable Discharge.
In 1986, Manie married the love of his life Yvonne Coleman of Detroit, MI. To their union God blessed them with a beautiful daughter, Kyra Gregory of Detroit, MI. Later in life, God also blessed Manie with a son, his namesake, whom he lovingly raised, Anthony Patrick Gregory Jr. (Man-Man) of Detroit, MI.
After returning home from service Manie went to work using his hands at various occupations. For many, many, years Manie worked at Blue Bell Mattress Company, a subsidiary of (King Koil Mattress Co.). He also worked as a Building Superintendent of Maintenance for Volunteers of America Coventry Place Apartments. His quiet and friendly personality, along with his supportive smile endeared him to the residents of the community, were he worked and lived.
He was preceded in death by his brother-in-law, David Ford Sr. He leaves to cherish his memory his mother: Shirley J. Gregory (Florida), his children: Kyra Gregory (Detroit), Anthony Patrick Gregory Jr. (Detroit), his grandchildren: Rylan Gordon, Larcel Heard, and Jacobi Anthony Gregory, his siblings: Reginald Gregory (Florida), Darryl Patrick Gregory (Detroit), Tereze Griffin (Derrick) (Florida), Sharae Lavene Ford (New Jersey), Sharon Renee Gregory (Florida), and Shaun Andreas Gregory (Detroit); as well as a host of nephews, nieces, relatives and friends.
Anthony made his transition from this earthly army to God’s Heavenly Army on June 10, 2025.
