Alzenia Payne was born on November 2, 1945, in Pensacola, Florida to Roberta and Joshua Harris. Alzenia was affectionately called “Sister”. She was preceded in death by her parents and daughters Angela Payne and Bernidia Payne whom she loved dearly.
Alzenia relocated to Detroit, Michigan in 1969, where she worked various jobs until landing employment at Chrysler until retirement. She continued to be the matriarch of her family with whom she greatly shared wisdom, advice, and her opinions. Family and friends were gifted through her love and support.
On May 26, 2024, God saw you getting tired, a cure was not to be. So, he put his arms around you and whispered, “Come with Me.” With tearful eyes we watched you and saw you fade away. Although we loved you dearly, “We could not make you stay.” Your golden heart stopped beating, your tender hands at rest. God took you home to prove to us. He only takes the best.
Alzenia leaves to cherish her memory: her daughter Robin Payne, her two sons Jimmy Payne and Arlandan Payne; her brother Joshua Harris Jr. (Jennifer) and sister Felisa Harris; her grandchildren Nicole Payne, Chenethia Payne, Ryan Johnson, Kenneth Dixon, Paige Payne, Tomas Payne, Julius Wood, Egypt Sharp, and Madison Payne along with a host of great-grandchildren. In addition, her very best friends Gwendolyn Davis, Thomasina Sanders, and her cousin Geraldine Junior; and niece and nephew.
