Roger Weddington

Roger June Weddington was born in Farrell Mississippi, on February 11, 1954 to Roger Weddington and Louise Smith. He spent his formative years in the South where he loved farming and developed an interest in mechanics.

Roger’s limitless love for people was shown through his illuminating smile and his magnetic personality was an instant attraction to everyone he met.

Roger enlisted in the United States Navy immediately after graduation and served his country for 20 years, from 1973 until his retirement in 1993.

Roger had a passion for life and a smile that let others know he enjoyed every minute of it. He was extremely family oriented, loved sports, drag racing, music, dancing, good food, loved working on cars, and talking about his world travels while in the military.  Most of all, Roger loved his grandchildren and took great honor in being called “GRANDPA”.

Roger is survived by his faithful and devoted wife of 20 years Mavis L. Weddington, showing all who knew them, how unconditional love operates.

Roger loved his family; those who preceded him in death and the ones he leaves behind including his beloved children and grandchildren, siblings, in-laws, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Roger never met a stranger and was loved by many close friends and countless others. 

After several health challenges throughout the years, Roger made a peaceful transition on July 3, 2017. Although sudden, we take comfort in knowing his heavenly destination is secure, which was evident by that same illuminating smile he showed in life, which remained illuminated at the time of transition.
